Planning an Italian vacation this spring?
May is a great time to go, and Umbria is a great, little-known Region to visit. For the third annual Porchettiamo tour, join tour leader Chef Sara Jenkins May 12 – 16. Sara will be accompanied by Umbrian friends, including wine expert Barbara d’Agapiti and cooking expert Letizia Mattiacci, for four days and five nights in what Umbrians call the Green Heart of Italy, eating, drinking, tasting, learning, and winding up with a feast in the rustic garden of Chef Salvatore Denaro. You’ll learn all about porchetta, the succulent Italian street food, whole roasted pork flavored with wild fennel, garlic, bay leaves, and its own innards, then baked in a wood-burning oven; and you’ll taste some of Umbria’s great wines, especially the brilliant red sagrantinos from Montefalco.
Price: € 1450 (dollar amount based on exchange rates)
To sign up, or for more information, go to www.porsena.com and look under “Events.” Or contact Letizia Mattiacci at letizia.mattiacci@gmail.com.
