Food Writing + Maine + June Magic

June, my friend Peggy says, is Maine’s great secret. Long before the tourist hordes have descended, when you can still avoid a line at Red’s Eats in Wiscasset, when the J boats are just flexing their sails in Camden harbor, when Route One is negotiable all the way to Lubec, when the weather is balmy but not yet hot, and the island ferries are still uncrowded, and the lupine and peonies and strawberries all have pride of place in our gardens—that’s the magic time when we who live here year round know that Maine is at her best.

Please join me in lovely seaside Rockport, Maine, this June for a taste (literally) of what makes this month so special. With my week-long seminar, the Craft of Writing Food, June 23 – 29, we’ll use this magic time to delve deeply into the food and foodways of Maine, while we hone our craft and develop our ideas. This is a hands-on class in which we’ll do a lot of writing, a lot of reading, and a lot of talk about writing, we’ll critique each others’ work, we’ll lend ideas and grow and mature in our craft.

There are still a couple of places left and we’d love to have you join us.
