Extra-virgin olive oil: How to choose it and use it

I’ll be speaking on one of my favorite subjects at Boston University’s Metropolitan College (808 Commonwealth Avenue) on February 7th, 6 to 8 p.m. Come along to learn everything you need to know about the heart healthy world of extra-virgins, including how they’re made, how they’re different from other oils and from each other, and why they’re so important to your diet. We’ll taste some remarkable oils and at least one less than remarkable, and we’ll sample olive-oil dishes prepared by the culinary students. With Valentine’s Day only one week away, this is your chance to learn how to give a sweetheart a healthy heart!

Lecture, guided tasting, reception plus a copy of The New Mediterranean Diet; cost $70. More info & registration at www.bu.edu/foodandwine/seminars/tastings_demos.html
